Who we are

Dr. Daniele Fanelli

Lab Director, Daniele was one of the first natural scientists who specialized 24/7 in the study of scientific misconduct, bias and related issues, and have produced some of the largest studies assessing the prevalence of bias across disciplines and countries. Some of these publications have become quite influential, and my 2009 meta-analysis on surveys about misconduct is one of the most popular papers published in the Public Library of Science, currently counting nealy 350,000 views.

Dr. Assemgul Kozhabek

Assemgul is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at TEMET Lab. She earned her PhD in Computer Science from Bournemouth University, where her research focused on complex urban road networks. Her work spans network science, transport modelling, and data-driven decision-making. She has held research roles at Ulster University, Nazarbayev University and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Assemgul actively contributes to interdisciplinary collaborations, advancing applications of network analysis in transport and research reproducibility.

Dr. Yingfang Yuan

Yingfang is a Research Associate (Postdoctoral Researcher) with expertise in artificial intelligence and deep learning, with a particular focus on agentic AI, multi agent systems, and interdisciplinary AI research. He obtained a PhD in Computer Science from Heriot Watt University and an MSc in Big Data and High Performance Computing from the University of Liverpool.

Palmer Smith

Palmer is a Research Assistant in the TEMET Lab at Heriot-Watt University. He holds an MSc in Research Methods in Psychological Science from the University of Glasgow, where he specialised in statistical modelling and the analysis of complex behavioural and clinical datasets. His work focuses on longitudinal data, modelling change in real-world systems, and developing reproducible analytical workflows in R. He is particularly interested in applying quantitative methods to understand how data-driven processes shape decision-making in health and behavioural contexts.

Former members

Tran Ha Anh

Ha Anh was a Research Associate at TEMET lab. She holds an MSc in Speech and Language Processing from the University of Edinburgh, where her studies centered on speech technologies, natural language understanding, and human-computer interaction. Prior to transitioning into the field of Natural Language Processing, she obtained a BA (Hons) in Education and Linguistics from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and an MSc in Applied Linguistics from the University of Glasgow.
